Last week, I had the opportunity to take part in the Personal Branding Workshop by Frenzr. For those of you who don't know, Frenzr, is a “friendly” social media agency that provides services to small and medium size businesses.

I've had the pleasure to collaborate with the Founder, Mariella Katz on various projects, and I couldn't wait to get insider tips on how to build my own brand.

Katz discussed the importance of creating your brand, and the "obvious" small stuff that can make a huge difference between you, and your competitor.

For those of you who missed out, here's 5 simple tips on how to build your own brand on social media.

1. Set a goal

Before you start anything, you need to ask yourself why are you doing this? Are you looking to build traffic to your website, close a deal, grow a community. Whatever the case may be, get it down on paper.

2. Define your network

In this step you will choose a social media that best suits your needs. For example, if your content is more creative, you might want to use Instagram, which showcases beautiful pictures and filters. If you're a professional, something like Linkedin might be more useful to you.

3. Build a community

The way to stand out from others that are selling the same product as you, is to be authentic. Interact with your followers, share personal stories, just be different.

4. Give your audience something tangible

You have to give in order to receive! Therefor, launch a contest, start a newsletter, provide tips and tricks or reveal secrets in order to keep them interested in your brand.

5. Build on your brand!

Make a catchy logo, invest in visuals, start planning your posts - just represent your brand by defining who YOU are and what it represents to you. Here's the step where you get to show the world what you've got - so get moving!
