How did you enter the space you are currently in, and what are some things about you that people may not know from social media?

I appreciate that question because it’s easy to come across someone online and not realize the depth of their backstory. After completing university, I embarked on a successful 11-year career in corporate retail. During that time, I held leadership roles in various countries, managing diverse teams of people and was responsible for helping scale 9 and 10 figure companies. These experiences shaped my leadership style, which is evident in my online business today. My background primarily focused on operations, leadership, and purchasing.

Many people may perceive me as an overnight success in the business mentorship and strategy field, but my journey began long before that. After becoming a mother to my son Beau six and a half years ago, I returned to work but quickly realized that my previous corporate lifestyle no longer aligned with my new priorities. With him, new depths of myself came online and I desired to be a present mom while pursuing my new vision of success. Rather than settling for either option, I chose to find a way to have both. This decision marked the birth of my online business.

Have you experienced any enlightening moments or significant transformations in your journey?

Yes, 2020 was a transformative year for me, as it was for many people. I officially launched my coaching business in January 2020, with plans to leave my corporate role by the end of that year. However, unforeseen circumstances accelerated this process. The company I worked for declared bankruptcy in February 2020, even before the COVID-19 pandemic hit.

Initially, I felt a mix of relief, excitement, and uncertainty. This sudden change pushed me to figure things out quickly. I was then approached with consulting roles in the food retail industry, which was greatly affected by the pandemic. I took on a supposed four-week role, but it ended up lasting for around four to five months. Although it provided significant financial benefits, it caused me to isolate myself from loved ones and neglect my well-being and my big vision of true freedom. In short, it felt like a gilded cage I couldn’t seem to escape from.

Eventually, this led to a breakdown, which became a breakthrough. I reached a point where I realized I needed to prioritize my healing and seek support. I quit my consulting role, turned down high-income opportunities, and focused on self-care and therapy. Through this experience, I understood that I had been holding myself back from becoming the woman I wanted to be. I rebuilt my business while prioritizing self-love, healing, and personal growth. This journey of self-discovery and transformation has had the most profound impact on me, the women I went onto impact and most importantly the humans I love the most around me.

Tell our audience a little bit about yourself.

When I was 21, I moved to New York City. I always felt like I was going to work in fashion. I was going to end up in New York. I was going to work at Vogue or work for a big designer. And I got an internship in my third year of university. I did management & marketing of textiles at university. I wanted to work in fashion marketing, probably not a surprise that I always loved & felt pulled to marketing. I landed an internship at a major designer and I was so excited but in truth, it was a tough experience. I moved to New York City, I lived in downtown Manhattan. I shared a studio with three other girls, and I ended up getting fired from my fashion internship. I never told anyone. Not a soul. My husband was the first person I told. He was the only person in the world that knew until I did my event there in New York City last year and I shared it with the audience. I remember leaving NYC to return to England and telling myself that one day I will be back &  when I return, I will be able to open any door in this city. It was such a big moment to go back and to do the shoot for Goss in the city that makes me feel so alive. I love New York. I love the city. I love the creativity. It’s vibrant. The fashion and everything about it. It’s gritty. It’s beautiful. It’s everything. It felt so cool going back and doing the shoot and staying in this gorgeous suite at the Aman Hotel, being on a rooftop shoot. They’ve shot Vogue and Bazaar covers on that same rooftop where we shot the cover of Goss. What a full circle moment to come back to.

What are you going to be doing over the next year?

I think things have significantly shifted since we last spoke. We did $2.4 million last year, and we’re doing $10M this year. It’s just like, boom, boom. It’s fast and yet it’s not. When I think about my background in scaling other people’s companies for 11 years internationally, it makes total sense to me. But there’s been significant shifts in the vast amount of women that we now have within the movement. You know, we’ve started a foundation to help break generational illiteracy in children. Myself and my husband are incredibly passionate about breaking cycles beyond just those in our own family– Financial illiteracy is something that transcends race and social class.

Me and my husband come from very, very different backgrounds. I didn’t know what contributed to my credit score until I needed to know. I didn’t know about things like investing in properties, even though my parents had a couple of investment properties. He came from a home with very poor financial literacy. He grew up in Baltimore with very little in the way of modeling what financial literacy looks like. My husband is of a different race to me. So we have the contrast in what we’ve been able to build for ourselves. We’re not just passionate about doing that for our kids and generational wealth. We’re talking about trying to change the future for future generations.

That’s always been something that’s been really important to me within the female entrepreneur space, and that’s been a big part of what I talk about. Because whilst the high-cash months are great and the business doing $10M this year, that’s not what wealth is, it’s what you do with the money. It’s the assets that give you the wealth, and that’s what true freedom looks like. We didn’t have the background in that. We bought our house back in 2018 or whenever that was, but we have built this in a quick amount of time because we got really, really clear on that. We both have a background in corporate.
