Redefining Law with Passion and Purpose

How Carmel & Camellia of Imani Law are Empowering Entrepreneurs and Transforming the Legal Profession with Creativity and Connection

Carmel and Camellia are the dynamic sister duo behind Imani Law, a firm redefining what it means to be a lawyer in the modern world. With a shared passion for helping entrepreneurs protect their businesses, they’ve built a practice that’s as vibrant and innovative as the clients they serve. Carmel and Camellia believe the law should feel approachable, empowering, and even fun—an ethos that sets Imani Law apart.

Their journey began in the trenches of traditional litigation, where they saw firsthand how preventable legal missteps often landed business owners in court. Determined to create solutions, they left the conventional path and embraced entrepreneurship, founding Imani Law with a mission to demystify the legal process and bring peace of mind to their clients.

As sisters, their bond fuels their vision. They’ve created a practice that supports their desired lifestyle—flexibility, creativity, and global mobility. Together, they’ve shattered the perception of the legal profession as dry and uninspired, championing a new narrative where the law intersects with passion and personality.

Through programs for business owners and aspiring lawyers, Carmel and Camellia share their expertise in building wealth, leveraging business credit, and establishing six-figure law firms. By embracing authenticity and resilience, they inspire others to dream big and pursue their goals unapologetically.

We’re passionate about breaking down the barriers that make protecting your brand or business feel intimidating or out of reach. Our mission is to provide our clients with peace of mind, allowing them to focus on what they do best—running and growing their businesses.

Equally important to us is bringing a fresh perspective to the field of law. Early in our careers, we noticed how often the legal profession was seen as dull, tedious, and unapproachable. But we’ve always believed it doesn’t have to be that way. Practicing law can be infused with fun, creativity, connection, and even a little humor.

We aim to inspire the next generation of lawyers—especially young women—to see the legal profession not just as a career but as an opportunity to incorporate their passions and personalities into their work. We’re actively working to change the narrative that being a lawyer is burdensome or boring. Instead, we embrace joy, fulfillment, and fun in everything we do, from the experiences we create for our clients to the work environment we cultivate for ourselves.

Practicing law, to us, is about making it vibrant, dynamic, and yes—even fun!

Walk us through your journey into entrepreneurship ; did you always know you would become a business owner?

When we graduated from law school, entrepreneurship wasn’t something we initially considered. We both began our careers at traditional law firms, eager to immerse ourselves in the legal world. In those early years, we dedicated ourselves entirely to litigation, without fully understanding what that work environment would entail.

After four years in the trenches, it became clear that the traditional path wouldn’t provide the fulfillment we were seeking. We realized we needed to take control of our careers and pivot toward something more aligned with our values and aspirations.

That’s when the idea of entrepreneurship began to take shape. Starting our own practice gave us the opportunity to build a work environment that reflected our priorities—flexibility, freedom, and meaningful connections with our clients. Our focus shifted to helping entrepreneurs, like ourselves, who were striving to create something of their own.

Since taking that leap, we haven’t looked back. Becoming business owners has allowed us to redefine what it means to practice law, on our own terms, and it’s been the most empowering and rewarding decision of our careers.

What advice would you give to your youngest self?

Don’t let someone else’s limiting beliefs define your life. It’s easy to look to others for guidance on what’s possible, but the truth is, anything is achievable. If you truly believe a path is right for you, trust that opportunities will present themselves—embrace them wholeheartedly!

Every experience, whether it’s a triumph or a setback, offers valuable lessons and opportunities for growth. Stay open to new challenges, trust your instincts, and remember that life is a continuous journey of learning and self-discovery.

What inspired you to pursue a career in law, and what led you to specialize in corporate and trademark law?

Working in litigation provided us with a front-row seat to the challenges that often land business owners in the courtroom. We witnessed firsthand how quickly things could go wrong without the proper precautions in place.

This experience motivated us to shift our focus to business law. We realized we could make a greater impact by helping entrepreneurs avoid those stressful situations altogether. By advising business owners on how to protect their ventures from the start, we empower them to build their businesses with confidence and peace of mind.

Why did you decide to join forces on building Imani Law?

As sisters, we often found ourselves venting to each other about our experiences, especially our frustrations with the lack of work-life balance and the rigid structure of traditional law practice. We longed for a way to practice law that truly aligned with the lifestyle we envisioned for ourselves.

Together, we began imagining what our ideal life could look like. In this vision, we saw ourselves practicing law without being tied to the courtroom, giving us the freedom to travel and live anywhere in the world while still supporting our clients. We dreamed of a work environment where we could be in control of our schedules, staying true to our values while enjoying the flexibility and independence we craved.

One day, during one of our conversations, we asked each other, “What would happen if we just… went for it?” And that’s exactly what we did. The decision to take that leap has been one of the most transformative and rewarding choices we’ve ever made.

How do you find inner balance in the midst of chaos?

We’re always exploring new tools and practices to cultivate inner peace and find balance. Our days are rarely the same, but one constant is starting our mornings with meditation to set a positive and centered tone for the day ahead.

That said, we’re also realistic—peaceful days aren’t guaranteed, and that’s okay. Embracing the reality that chaos is a natural part of life allows us to stay grounded even when things feel overwhelming.

What truly keeps us anchored is the immense gratitude we feel daily. We’re incredibly fortunate to live a life that aligns with our passions and to call this our work. That gratitude serves as a powerful compass, helping us maintain perspective and peace no matter what challenges the day may bring.

What is your daily routine schedule to set yourself up for a successful day?

We used to dive straight into work in the mornings, getting ready and logging on or immediately calling each other about business. But we discovered that taking time for ourselves first—what some call “filling your own cup”—made us far more productive, happier, and aligned throughout the day.

Though we don’t live together, we’ve each crafted our own morning routines that prioritize self-care. One thing we always share, however, is meeting up for a heated yoga sculpt class. It’s our favorite way to move our bodies, fueling us both physically and mentally and setting the tone for the day ahead.

When we start work, we tackle administrative tasks first, like responding to emails and organizing for our afternoon consults and client calls. This time is dedicated to advising both current and prospective clients, ensuring we’re fully present for them.

The late afternoons are our most creative period. That’s when we shift to working “on” the business rather than “in” it—whether that means developing content or refining our strategies. As entrepreneurs, it’s not always easy to step away from work, but we’re committed to carving out time to recharge, knowing it’s essential for both our well-being and the long-term success of our business.

On Manifesting BIG visions; what does that look like for you two now?

We’re firm believers in the power of manifestation, and over time, we’ve come to recognize the moments when we were holding ourselves back by playing small.

In the past, we often looked outward, allowing external factors and influences to dictate what seemed possible for our lives, our business, and our journey. But everything changed when we shifted our focus inward.

For us, manifesting BIG visions now means tuning into our inner guidance, trusting our instincts, and letting our deepest desires shape our path. Rather than being confined by what we see around us, we let our inner vision lead the way. It’s about dreaming boldly, setting intentions that align with who we truly are, and pursuing those dreams unapologetically with unwavering confidence.

This inward focus has unlocked new opportunities and given us a profound sense of purpose. It’s an exciting and empowering approach, not just to our business but to life itself. By embracing this mindset, we’ve been able to create a future that feels truly authentic and aligned with our values and aspirations.

What is your superpower?

Our superpower lies in how we embrace our failures. In the past, setbacks in our entrepreneurial journey would leave us feeling discouraged and frustrated. However, we’ve completely reframed our perspective on these challenges, and it’s been a game-changer for our growth. Now, we see failures not as roadblocks but as valuable lessons that provide clarity and guide our next steps.

We truly live by the belief that “everything happens for a reason.” By accepting failure as an integral part of the process, we’ve gained the confidence to take risks and the resilience to keep moving forward. This mindset shift has not only propelled our success but also empowered us to approach challenges with greater purpose and positivity.

What do you have coming up in the next three months that we can co-promote during the launch of the issue?

We have some exciting initiatives in the pipeline for business owners! First, we’re launching a program designed to teach entrepreneurs how to leverage business credit cards to unlock luxurious travel experiences—think flying business class and staying in high-end hotels around the world, all for nearly free. Having perfected these strategies over the years, especially as business owners, we’re now sharing our tried-and-true methods to help others enjoy the same benefits.

In addition, we’re introducing a program tailored specifically for lawyers and law students who aspire to build their own six-figure business law firms. Drawing from years of trial and error, we’ve developed a streamlined system that includes the best tech stacks, tools, and strategies to run a successful practice. This program is designed to save future law firm owners time and money, providing them with a proven roadmap to create their dream law firm with confidence and efficiency.
