Health Practitioners and Coaches Owning Modern Companies, Building with Certainty, and Creating a Company That Honors the Life She Wants to Live

Maggie Berghoff has never needed to see the entire path before taking the first step. Long before she became the founder and CEO of a rapidly expanding company serving health and wellness entrepreneurs, Berghoff had followed what appeared to be a traditional professional path. She completed both her undergraduate and graduate education at Vanderbilt University, became a nurse practitioner, got married, and began building the family she had always envisioned.

It was the life she thought she wanted. A few years later, however, she realized that the conventional career she had worked so hard to establish no longer felt aligned. Her curiosity had begun pulling her beyond the limitations of traditional healthcare and toward functional and integrative medicine, a field that considered not only symptoms, but nutrition, mindset, lifestyle, sleep, environmental toxins, and the entire ecosystem surrounding a person’s well-being.

That interest was not merely professional. It was deeply personal. In her early twenties, Berghoff experienced a series of health challenges that altered the direction of her life. Within the traditional medical system, she was given prescriptions intended to manage her symptoms. She was told there was little more she could do and that the diagnoses she had received could remain with her indefinitely.

Berghoff refused to accept that prognosis as the conclusion of her story. Somewhere within her, she knew that vitality was still available to her. She committed herself to understanding what was happening in her body and surrounded herself with people who shared her belief that healing was possible.

“I knew with everything in me that I was going to figure it out,” she says. “There was no version of my life where I was just going to remain sick and struggling.”

That conviction led her into functional and integrative medicine, but it also transformed her relationship with food and self-care. Rather than approaching nutrition through restriction, deprivation, or rigid dieting, she began asking a different question: What could she give her body to help it heal?

She focused on nourishing foods, antioxidants, anti-inflammatory ingredients, and the energy her body required to restore itself. She envisioned herself flooding her system with everything it needed to thrive. Eventually, she healed her body fully and all her “chronic” diagnosis vanished, along with the nagging symptoms. The experience reshaped far more than her health. It established the foundation upon which she would later build her business: persistence, resilience, personal responsibility, and the willingness to follow an unconventional direction even when respected authorities suggested otherwise.

It also transformed how she lived. Health became less of a temporary project and more of an environment she intentionally created each day. Berghoff began choosing cleaner household and skincare products, eating in a way that supported her energy, and designing her surroundings to make wellness feel natural. When she woke up feeling clear, energized, and fully alive, she began to imagine what else might be possible.

That was when her purpose shifted. She no longer wanted to spend her life confined to a cold office practicing within a healthcare model that did not fully reflect what she believed. She wanted to work from home, raise her children, and help other people transform their health through the very principles that had transformed her own.

She opened her private practice and began building a company. From the beginning, Berghoff believed it would succeed. Her confidence did not come from projections, external validation, or a perfectly constructed business plan. It came from the same internal knowing that had carried her through her healing journey.

“I absolutely knew that I would be successful,” she says. “I didn’t know exactly how it would work or what it would look like, but I knew this was the path for me.” Her motivation was not initially attached to a specific revenue goal. She was passionate about helping people feel better, excited to be home all day to raise her new baby, and determined to create a business that supported the life she desired rather than requiring her to sacrifice it.

Today, Berghoff is the mother of three children. Contrary to the popular assumption that business becomes easier as children grow older, she has found this season more active than ever. Her days now include school schedules, friendships, sports, music, gymnastics, weekend games, and the increasingly complex emotional and practical needs of growing children.

Because she prioritizes motherhood, her calendar cannot be built around uninterrupted ten-hour workdays. Instead, she has built a company capable of expanding beyond her personal availability.

Her team now carries a lot of responsibilities in the company, supporting clients, executing the company’s vision, and contributing their own expertise. Berghoff remains the CEO, visionary, and leader of the company’s marketing, but she is no longer responsible for personally operating every part of the organization. The evolution has allowed her to create more white space in her schedule, remain flexible for her children, and focus her attention on the decisions that create the greatest movement.

Working within limited pockets of time has made her exceptionally focused. “When I have one hour to work on my company, I have to ask myself what actually makes a difference,” she explains. “What truly needs my attention?” That question has become one of her greatest strategic advantages. Rather than glorifying relentless work, Berghoff has chosen a path guided by lifestyle, fulfillment, and values. She has been willing to grow more slowly when necessary because speed and more income was never the core measurement of success. Freedom and flexibility were embedded into the business from its earliest stages.

Her ideal day is neither entirely domestic nor exclusively professional. She knows she would not feel fulfilled as a full-time stay-at-home mother, nor would she want to spend forty hours every week working inside a conventional structure.

She thrives in the combination. A meaningful day might include motherhood, personal time, strategic leadership, and a focused period of business creation. This rhythm reflects one of the principles she now teaches others: the goal is not simply to build a successful company. It is to design a business that its founder genuinely loves. For Berghoff, that sometimes means working from home in loungewear, without makeup, her hair pulled back as she moves directly from school drop-off into focused execution.

It also means intentionally stepping into a completely different environment for furthering her career when desired. This could mean traveling to host a business event, meeting up with other 8-9-figure entrepreneurs to connect, or working in-person with her otherwise virtual team.  A few days away for meetings, speaking engagements, podcast recordings, video production, or a photoshoot can generate the clarity and momentum that move the company forward for months.

Then she returns home for quality time with her family again. She does not believe she must choose between the two versions of herself. Both belong within the life she has intentionally created. Her company’s focus has now expanded from individual health transformation into furthering impact by providing business mentorship to health practitioners and coaches of all different industries and backgrounds.

Through the mentorship programs, the company has trained thousands of health and wellness practitioners and coaches to build and scale businesses that align with the lives they want to live. Its clients include doctors, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, certified health coaches, wellness providers, and entrepreneurs whose expertise was born through their own personal transformation.

Berghoff believes that lived experience can be among the most valuable forms of authority. A person who has navigated her own health journey often understands exactly how to speak to the person she once was. She knows the fears, questions, frustrations, and possibilities of that experience in a way that no credential alone can reproduce.

The company helps these practitioners translate their expertise into personal brands, build visibility through platforms such as Instagram and TikTok, attract clients with their social media marketing, and develop sustainable careers around the work they feel called to do.

What began as Maggie Berghoff’s personal brand is rapidly becoming something larger than its founder. Clients are no longer joining only because they know her name. They are joining because of the reputation, results, methodology, team, and community the company has established.

Berghoff welcomes that evolution. Although she continues to guide the vision, she credits her team with much of the company’s impact today. They pour into clients daily, contribute to their success, and have helped transform the business from an extension of one woman into an organization with its own identity and momentum. In many ways, its growth mirrors the development of her children. What she once held and nurtured closely is learning to stand independently, develop its own strength, and expand into the world.

When Berghoff imagines the coming decade, her first vision is still of her family. She thinks about the ages her children will be, the adventures they may take, the interests they will develop, and the lives they will create. Each child, she says, already possesses a distinct collection of passions, strengths, and characteristics. Nurturing those identities is among the achievements she expects to value most in the next ten years.

Professionally, she knows she will remain in the business of health, but at a far greater level. Her vision includes expanding the company’s premier mentorship programs and done-for-you services. The business brand is capable of helping clients amplify nearly every dimension of their brands and businesses in-house.

The company, Online Business Academy™, is becoming the infrastructure behind the next generation of leaders in health and wellness. Berghoff does not typically build her future around fixed numerical targets. Many of the accomplishments that now define her career were never part of a rigid long-term plan. She did not originally intend to become an entrepreneur. She did not predict becoming an international bestselling author or learning that her book had sold tens of thousands of copies in the first week of launch. She did not aim to become an 8-figure founder which is the level of business that is now her reality.

Her trajectory has unfolded through impact, curiosity, and a willingness to pursue the next aligned expansion. When asked about a number that she may aim for, Berghoff again shared her primary focus is not tied to a number, but is confident the company will be a nine-figure coaching company in the near future. She’s most excited about this not solely because of what that valuation would represent financially, but because of the ecosystem of impact required to create it.

A company of that magnitude would employ a larger team of people working virtually in roles they love. It would serve more practitioners, support more entrepreneurs, and help those entrepreneurs reach hundreds or thousands of clients of their own.

The influence would move outward in multiplying circles. To Berghoff, that is what the business of health can become: a thriving company that improves the lives of its team, elevates its clients, strengthens the businesses of practitioners, and ultimately helps more people access the tools they need to transform their well-being.

She believes that the future is not only aspirational. She believes it is where the company is already heading. “Why would we not?” she asks. “We’re growing that way and I’m confident that will be our reality.”

It is the same certainty that has guided every defining chapter of her life. The certainty that she could heal when she was told she could not. The certainty that she could build a meaningful company from home while raising her children.

The certainty that business could be expansive without requiring her to abandon her values. And the certainty that when purpose, fulfillment, health, and ambition are allowed to coexist, success no longer needs to come at the expense of a beautiful life. For Maggie Berghoff, that life is not the reward waiting at the end of the entrepreneurial journey. It is the foundation upon which everything else is being built.
