Building a Brand with Loyalty, Excellence and Trust at the forefront

Meet Nadia Maltais @NadiaMaltais, a real estate sensation who has taken the market by storm well over decade ago, and has not looked back since. Her introduction to the real estate industry started as a fortunate accident – when she accompanied a close friend to a real estate course and fell in love with the field. Her passion grew over the years, as did her network and field of expertise. Today her brand is synonymous with luxury, quality and a team that serves for generations. Here is her success journey.

Tell our readers a little about yourself.

I am trained as a firefighter. You might think of fire protection and real estate as two opposing professions. But not that much. These two jobs allow me to be close to people and to support them in important trials or transitions in their lives.

What brought you into the real estate industry?

After I had my first child, a friend was going to take his real estate brokerage course and asked me to come with him. I said yes without really knowing what to expect. It was the most beautiful occupational accident of all my life. I immediately understood that I had found more than a job. I had found a passion. There is nothing in my educational background that suggests a career in real estate.

What brought you to Sotheby’s International Realty?

I worked under a banner for ten years. Little by little, I perfected my experience and gained the loyalty of my customers. I was approached by Sotheby’s in 2009 and I was won over by the presence of the brand and its immense legacy left over the years and which continues to this day.

What is the most valuable lesson you’ve learned this far in your career?

Over time, I have learned how valuable customers are. They are literally the main factor in my success.

My greatest accomplishment is being able to serve the 3rd generation of one family. I’ve always said loud and clear that I don’t work in real estate but that I support people.

With the real estate overheating, the purchasing power of investors is more difficult.

Where do you think the residential real estate market (in Quebec and surrounding areas) is headed? Are you seeing a shift in the way people are investing today?

New buyers are very knowledgeable and savvy. Generation Z is no longer looking to renovate or recycle. They are looking for turnkey real estate with few renovations to do. With prices soaring, it is not uncommon for young buyers to look to their parents to increase their purchasing power. Commonly called “love money”, this transfer of wealth between the two generations is increasingly common.

What systems do you have in place for internal growth at the company?

We are a young team which is at the beginning of its development. We have put in place a structure that will be called upon to change as we find more effective means. Our strength as a team are the complementary strengths of each that allow us to develop a loyal and loyal clientele.

What does success represent to you?

The definition of success is unique to everyone. Some will attribute the amount on their T4, others to the number of transactions in a year.

According to little Robert Dictionary, the definition of success: The way something happens; what happens good or bad.

There is an old saying that what is good for one person is not necessarily good for another.

As cliché as it sounds, success for me is doing a job you love. It’s about waking up each morning and seeing the day, which is often filled with significant challenges, and knowing that you will be supporting a client through an important transition in their life. It’s about going to bed at night and being convinced that we gave our best for both the client and the team.

What differentiates your team in the marketplace?

What sets us apart is without a doubt our very human customer approach.

Where do you see yourself /your brand in the next ten years?

In ten years I aspire to retire and look after a few clients who are very dear to me. I don’t think I’ll ever stop real estate altogether. The idea of finding the right home or the right investment for a client is what drives me deep inside.
